Aloe vera Barbadensis is a medicinal plant known for thousands of years from the regions of South and East Africa, the West Indies archipelago and southern Arabia. Perennial, succulent plant with pointed, sword-shaped leaves. The gel containing the active ingredients is obtained from the leaves of the plant and is obtained by extracting mucus stored in certain tissues of the plant. The main active ingredients in the gel are a mixture of polysaccharides consisting of mannose, glucose and galactose and a compound called acemannan. In addition, amino acids, glycoproteins, enzymes, hydroxyanthracene derivatives, saponins, organic acids and salts, and vitamins are involved in shaping the beneficial effects of the plant.
